Caring for Your Museum Replicas Collectibles

Caring for Your Museum Replicas Collectibles
Caring for Your Museum Replicas Collectibles. Museum Replicas makes some of this most sought after replicas to date and this article offers instruction on how to care for your investment.

Museum Replicas Limited has created some of the most meticulously detailed prop replicas to date, including real metal swords and wearable helmets, and we are proud to be able to offer these fantastic products to our customers. To help maintain the quality and integrity of these authentic pieces, the fine craftsmen at Museum Replicas Limited have provided some information about how best to care for your real metal collectibles. Please read carefully to get the maximum displayability and enjoyment out of your metal products!

The first thing you may notice when opening your high quality prop replica is a coating of oil on the metal surfaces. This is purposeful and necessary to protect your item in route from manufacturer to your hands. The long journey a product takes to reach you is fraught with bad weather and humidity, this coating ensures it arrives to you as intended.

Your prop has been expertly hand crafted of fine, real metals and with a minimal amount of care will last you a lifetime.

Steps to care for your steel/brass/bronze replica (not for painted surfaces):

  • Out of the box you will need a clean soft cotton cloth to wipe the excess oil away before you display.
  • WD-40 is a good way to clean the excess oil off as well and is good for occasional cleaning. Simply spray on and wipe off.

Recommendations:
We recommend you clean your fine replica every 2-3 months to preserve the natural metal finish. You will need a soft, clean cotton cloth and your choice of Windlass Rustblocker, WD-40, Brasso, Flitz or Renaissance Wax (note although a good cleaner and protectant, wax will leave a matte finish). All are readily available through local hardware stores or from Museum Replicas.

Using natural metals that stay true to the intention of your prop as seen on screen is paramount and with proper and minimal care you will have a treasure that will be ready for the next generation to enjoy.
