This film was billed as "The
strangest story of passion the world has ever known". Bela Lugosi took this role
from stage to the silver screen, and it shot him to stardom. Dracula is the
character most frequently portrayed in horror films, and this one was the first!
The illustrator, Karoly Grosz, created many images for Universal’s horror
flicks, including Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), The Old Dark House
(1932), The Mummy (1932), Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932, a signed image), The
Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Wives Under Suspicion (1938).
