Synopsis:
A long, long, time ago, in a place called Hollywood, the silent movie ruled. But when Warner Bros. released the first "talking picture", the silent movie kings and queens suddenly had to learn how to "talk". Gene Kelly plays Don Lockwood, popular matinee idol who is hilarious entangled with Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen), a gorgeous movie queen who has not the voice to match the face, purely for publicity reasons. Enter Kathy Selden, a young wannabe actress (played by a young Debbie Reynolds), who by surprise meets Don Lockwood, and does not fall in love at first sight. Don's comic musician sidekick Cosmo Brown (Donald O'Connor at his best here) provide the laughs. Singin' in the Rain is possibly the best Hollywood musical ever made. The plot is regular predictable musical fare, however, it is how the talented cast get to the end in blockbusting Hollywood musical style that counts.
