 Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill)
Luke Skywalker’s lightaber from George Lucas’ Star Wars will be heading into orbit aboard the space shuttle. Read on:
Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber, the famed prop from George Lucas’ Star Wars films, will blast into space aboard the space shuttle Discovery, which is scheduled for launch on Oct. 23.
In a Star Wars studded ceremony Tuesday in Oakland, Calif., the prop was handed over to officials from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) who will put the lightsaber on display at Space Centre Houston in Texas before the flight.
Storm troopers, Darth Vader, R2-D2 the erratic robot and even the giant Wookie Chewbacca were on hand to give the light saber a proper send off. It had been in storage at Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch in California.
“We have had a relationship with NASA on a small scale with small events,” said Tracy Cannobbio, a spokeswoman for Lucasfilm Ltd. “We just thought, we should do something together. It was a no-brainer.”

Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Hartnett
Samuel L. Jackson hits another one out of the ball park. Josh Hartnett isn’t bad either. You simpy MUST see Resurrecting the Champ
Read on:Inspired by a Los Angeles Times Magazine article by J.R. Moehringer — and the fallout from it — the Rod Lurie-directed drama Resurrecting the Champ is as much about fathers, sons and journalistic ethics as it is about boxing.
When small-time Denver Times sports reporter Erik Kernan (Josh Hartnett) meets a homeless man known as “The Champ” (Samuel L. Jackson), he realizes he may have finally found the story that will launch him into the big time and win him the respect of his peers. “The Champ” says he’s actually “Battling Bob Satterfield,” a boxer who was thought to have died years before.
Satterfield was a highly regarded pugilist in his day, but now Erik finds him living in a cardboard box in an alley. Erik believes he’s scooped the story of a lifetime, one that will finally get him out of the shadow of his late sports broadcaster father (who also abandoned him as a child). Going behind his editor’s (Alan Alda) back, Erik finds overnight success when a major magazine makes it their cover story.
Landing a second job as a TV personality on Showtime (where his boss is played by Teri Hatcher), Erik is enjoying his newfound respect — especially the look in the eyes of his adoring son Teddy (Dakota Goyo), to whom he’s told more than a few tall tales (such as being buddies with John Elway). He’s also still pining for his wife and co-worker Joyce (Kathryn Morris), from whom he is separated.
Unfortunately, serious doubts are soon raised about the veracity of Erik’s story and the true identity of “The Champ” — revelations which threaten Erik’s professional success and cause both men to come to terms with themselves.

 Paul Haggis
Paul Haggis talk about Bond 22. Read what he has to say and go to IGN.com to watch video:
Oscar winner Paul Haggis was making the rounds doing press this past weekend for his new film In the Valley of Elah where he was peppered with questions about Bond 22.
Haggis is currently rewriting the Bond 22 screenplay for Sony and director Marc Forster. “I’m on page 22. I’m not writing it today because I’m here, but I was writing it up until 8 p.m. last night. It’s a lot of fun. It’s a whole different set of muscles,” Haggis said at a press conference, according to Collider.com.
He continued, “It’s something I was really concerned about doing because I liked Casino Royale so much, I had such fun doing it and I thought I could only fail by trying to do it again. But I’m giving it a shot and it’s an original and it’s not based on any book or short story or anything that Ian Fleming had done. Although it is based on Ian Fleming ideas. And it starts right after the last one, two minutes after Casino Royale this movie starts.” Haggis also said the film will not be jokier, as had previously been reported.
ComingSoon.net quoted Haggis as saying that rumored contender Carice van Houten would not be playing the film’s Bond girl role. “She’s great, isn’t she — but she’s not going to be in this one,” Haggis reportedly said. “Everyone says they know what the ending is, and they’re wrong. Everyone thinks they know about the Bond Girls, and they’re wrong.”

Scarlett Johansson and Alicia Keys in “The Nanny Diaries.”
While there might be some issues with the movie, The Nanny Diaries is still well-acted and entertaining. Read what Todd Gilchrist from IGN.com has to say:
It’s tough to get excited about a movie like The Nanny Diaries. Adapted from a best-selling novel that chronicles the social universe of affluent New Yorkers, the film is professionally mounted, well-acted and generally entertaining, and yet it is ultimately almost completely forgettable. Is this because Diaries is being released in a season already overloaded with so many other films, many of which are themselves unmemorable? Perhaps. But the slim advantage of a terrific cast and crew helps the film “not” to become much more than yet another entry in the wasteland of post-summer, pre-Oscar season film releases.
The initial problem with the film is its lack of identity, which is somewhat intentional, especially given the decision to reduce the characters to their simplest essence. Scarlett Johansson (The Prestige) plays Annie, quickly renamed Nanny when she is mistaken for an out-of-work child-care provider and hired by Mrs. X (Laura Linney) to rear her son Grayer. While Mrs. X suffers through spa days and “me time” that seldom if ever includes her neglected son, her husband Mr. X (Paul Giamatti) is either absently tyrannical or tyrannically absent, and Nanny is left with the lion’s share of the caregiving. Putting her anthropology background to work, Nanny soon uncovers a fascinating world of detached relationships and half-hearted commitments that belie the privilege and opportunity the couple’s wealth affords them.

 Russell Crowe
We found this article on IGN.con where Russell Crowe talks about his role in the upcoming Star Trek XI feature length film. IGN spoke with Russell Crowe earlier this week (see the video below) about the rumors — first reported by us — that Paramount would like to get him to play the villain in their new Star Trek movie. While Crowe wasn’t terribly forthcoming with us about the buzz, he did open up about it a little more in another recent interview.
Speaking with ExtraTV.com, Crowe said of the rumors that he’ll be starring in the next Trek, “Apparently. But I haven’t read anything. I can’t make a decision about anything until I read it so we’ll see what happens.”
While that’s far from a “not true,” it’s also far from a “hell, yeah” so time will tell.
