Synopsis:
It all started when Charlie Kagan was ten years old. Breaking the cardinal rules of spin-the-bottle, Charlie refused to lip-lock with a demented Goth girl – and she put a hex on him. While his plastic surgeon best friend, Stu (Dan Fogler), pursues as many of his patients as possible, Charlie can’t seem to find the right girl. Even worse, he discovers at an ex-girlfriend’s wedding that every woman he’s ever slept with has found true love – with the next guy after him. Before he knows it, Charlie’s reputation as a “good luck charm” has women – from sexy strangers to his overweight receptionist – lining up for a quickie. But a life filled with all sex and no love has Charlie lonelier than ever – that is, until he meets Cam (Jessica Alba). An accident-prone penguin specialist, Cam is as hard-to-get as she is beautiful. But when a genuine romance develops, Charlie realizes he’s got to find a way to break his good-luck curse…before the girl of his dreams winds up with the next guy she meets.

Sienna Miller as Victoria and Charlie Cox as Tristan in Paramount Pictures’ Stardust – 2007

Stardust might well be one of the best movie this summer. Read on:

Watching Stardust, Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of the acclaimed fantasy novel by Neil Gaiman, it’s obvious that the filmmakers were trying for a sly if special-effects-heavy update of Rob Reiner’s The Princess Bride — a film equal parts romance, fun and fantasy. But I was more immediately reminded of Ron Howard’s Willow, not just because I loved that film and all of its disjointed parts, but primarily because those same disparate elements are only occasionally combined in consistent measures here. That said, Vaughn’s film eventually proves to be a far more delightful and engaging adventure than Howard’s — although it may take a little patience enduring Stardust’s front-loaded fantasy before you get to the fun that follows.

Charlie Cox (Casanova) plays Tristan, the son of a local shopkeep whose dreams of marrying Victoria (Sienna Miller) become a possible reality when she sends him on a quest: recover a falling star. Urged on by his father Dunstan (Nathaniel Parker), Tristan uses a magic candle to travel to the place where the star fell. But when he arrives, he discovers that the star is not merely some hunk of charred rock but rather a beautiful woman named Yvaine (Clare Danes), who is none too happy to be enslaved to this ambitious but awkward mortal after falling from the sky.

Soon enough, the two begin to make their way back to Tristan’s village. But it turns out that Tristan is not the only person who wants to get his hands on Yvaine: A decrepit witch named Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer) and her two sisters want to eat her heart, which will provide them with decades of youth and beauty. Meanwhile, the King (Peter O’Toole) has died and his sons fight to recover a lost gem — which coincidentally Yvaine finds — that will declare one of them heir to the throne. Before long, Tristan and Yvaine are thrown into a whirlwind journey across the globe facing witches, pirates, and kings-to-be, all the while discovering that heroism, leadership and most of all love may appear in the last place one might expect.

Spider Man 4 Screenwriter Update

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

spidey3-boxart-blog.jpg

Spider-Man 4 news: who’s in and who’s out. Read on:

IGN has confirmed that David Koepp, who scripted the first Spider-Man movie, will not be back to script Spider-Man 4 after all. The Indy IV and Jurassic Park screenwriter was in talks for the job earlier this year.

Koepp, who is gearing up to direct the film Ghost Town next month with Ricky Gervais and Greg Kinnear, is simply too busy to tackle the project, sources informed us.

Sony Pictures is still determining the course of their lucrative Spidey film franchise. As we learned at Comic-Con, Sam Raimi, who directed the first three installments, is open to directing a fourth film provided the story intrigues him.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in X-Men 3

Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine. Wolverine will begin shooting in November, 2008.

Hugh Jackman, who will reprise his role as the feral mutant Logan in Fox’s forthcoming X-Men spinoff Wolverine, recently dropped a few hints about what fans can expect to see in the Gavin Hood-directed movie.

The project is a prequel that reportedly details Logan’s back-story in the Weapon X program and his first encounter with Sabretooth. Logan is also expected to have a new love interest. In an interview with WizardUniverse.com, Jackman downplayed the notion that Logan’s past adventures in Japan might also be a part of the film.
