Official website: www.imnotthere-movie.com

Synopsis:
The life and music of Bob Dylan are dramatized as a series of shifting personae, each performed by a different actor—poet, prophet, outlaw, fake, star of electricity, rock and roll, martyr born-again Christian—seven identities braided together, seven organs pumping through one life story, as dense and vibrant as the era it inspired.

Arthur (Ben Wishaw), a renegade symbolist poet, serves as the film’s narrator, while being interrogated by a nameless commission as to the motivations, subversive undercurrents, and political misreadings of his work. His witty, ironic responses provide counterpoint to the chapters of a life that begin to unfurl.

Craig Disputes Bond 22 Rumors

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

craig-as-bond-blog.jpg

Daniel Craig is disputing rumors that suggest that he has signed on for four more Bond films.

Contrary to statements made by MGM honcho Harry Sloan to the Hollywood trade papers, actor Daniel Craig is not signed on to do four more James Bond films. So says 007 himself.

While doing press in London for his new film The Golden Compass, Craig was asked about his contract for future Bond films. “I never said that,” Craig replied according to HisDarkMaterials.org. “Well, that’s what’s been said, it’s not that it’s not true, because I haven’t signed up. What I’ve done is I’ve signed up on the next movie [Bond 22], after that we’ll see. That’s the way I’m doing it, and certainly it’s not four more — that’s the truth. It’s certainly not four more.”

As for the storyline, Craig reiterated what screenwriter Paul Haggis already revealed, saying, “It will actually follow on quite closely after the last story. That’s in, sort of elements of what happened in the last movie are going to be putting over into this one.”

August Rush Movie Review

Monday, November 26th, 2007

august-rush-image.jpg

If you keep an open mind while viewing August Rush you will be rewarded by this terrifically, satisfying movie.

When defending his 2000 romantic comedy Keeping the Faith, Edward Norton suggested that the only way to achieve true hipness in our age of irony and detachment was to be completely sincere and earnest. By this logic, August Rush is the hippest film released in 2007, if not since Keeping the Faith, because it wears its sincerity so plainly that you sometimes have to look around it in order to follow the story. Starring Freddie Highmore as a musically-inclined orphan determined to find his parents, the movie is a musical, a love story and a fable all rolled into one, and it is in spite of these things — not to mention audiences’ natural cynicism — that August Rush proves to be a quite beautiful and engaging film.

Hitman Movie Review

Monday, November 26th, 2007

While Hitman is not the best video game to film adaptation, it is nonetheless enjoyable.

Fox’s Hitman may not be the best game-to-film adaptation yet made, but it’s an enjoyable enough diversion despite its many formulaic elements. Offbeat casting helps make otherwise sketchy characters appear more dimensional than they are, while director Xavier Gens and cinematographer Laurent Bares deliver a number of sharp-looking, adrenaline-pumping action set-pieces.

The Skip Woods-scripted film has a simple enough plot: Tthe mysterious master assassin known only as Agent 47 (Timothy Olyphant) is sent by his employer — referred to here as “The Organization” but called “The Agency” in the games — to assassinate Russian leader Mikhail Belicoff (Ulrich Thomsen). But 47 — who never misses his target and is referred to by law enforcement as “The Ghost” because he’s so stealthy — is advised by his contact at The Organization that there is an eyewitness, a hooker named Nika (Olga Kurylenko), that he will need to eliminate.

Quicker than you can scream “set-up!,” 47 finds himself on the run in the former USSR with Nika in tow and hunted by other bald, well-dressed agents from The Organization. Also in hot pursuit are Interpol agent Mike Whittier (Dougray Scott) and Russian secret police officer Yuri Marklov (Robert Knepper), who are at each other’s throats as often as they’re after 47. Why was 47 betrayed? What are the bad guys up to? These are the questions that drive Hitman towards its bullet-riddled conclusion.
