Joe Apatow has already (The Forty Year Old Virgin) brought us two of the most hilarious comedies of 2007 (Knocked Up and Superbad). Well he’s set to do it again with his latest upcoming release Walk Hard: The Dewy Cox Story (December 21, 2007).
Synopsis: America loves Cox! But behind the music is the up-and-down-and-up-again story of a musician whose songs would change a nation. On his rock ‘n roll spiral, Cox sleeps with 411 women, marries three times, has 22 kids and 14 stepkids, stars in his own 70s TV show, collects friends ranging from Elvis to the Beatles to a chimp, and gets addicted to — and then kicks — every drug known to man… but despite it all, Cox grows into a national icon and eventually earns the love of a good woman — longtime backup singer Darlene (Jenna Fischer).

The folks over at IGN attended a special screening and reception on Wednesday for the Imax prologue of the Dark Knight. The prologue is set to debut during the Imax release of I Am Legend on December 14th.
IGN was able to get an exclusive interview with Christopher Nolan at a cocktail reception following the screening:
IGN: How many IMAX sequences will be included in The Dark Knight in addition to the Joker’s introduction?
Christopher Nolan: I think there will be four or five in the finished film. I’ve only just started editing the feature so it is as yet uncertain. As we shot we intended to shoot four, but we enjoyed it so much and we were loving the results so much as we were watching dailies. We were sitting there on the stage in Chicago watching dailies on an eight-story screen. It’s a pretty incredible thing. So we started throwing the cameras [in] a little bit more and more, so it will be a little more in the film than that but primarily they’re the big action beats.
IGN: What was your criteria for selecting the scenes to be shot in IMAX?
Nolan: Well, I started with the big action beats, but we actually started shooting some of the quieter moments as well [in IMAX]. Yeah, the pictorially interesting, quieter, montage kind of moments. We thought we’d try that. It’s just a beautiful way — it’s just the best, most extraordinary image there is in motion pictures so it’s kind of addictive. You start wanting to use it more and more.
IGN: Was Harvey Dent’s transformation into Two-Face shot in IMAX?
Nolan: Gosh, I’m trying to remember … We mixed in — that depends on how you look at it. It’s a hard one to answer, actually.
IGN: What about the much talked about shot from Wizard World Chicago of seeing Dent/Two-Face from behind at the bar?
Nolan: No, that’s all 35[mm]actually.

Atonement starring Keira Knightley and James McAvoy arrive in theaters December 7th and there is already talk of several Oscar nominations for this film.
Atonement makes you thankful for DNA evidence, as it could have spared the main characters of this Joe Wright-directed drama decades of tragedy had it existed at the time the story is set. Christopher Hampton penned the screenplay adaptation of Ian McEwan’s best-selling 2002 novel, which recounts how one child’s spiteful accusation forever alters the course of three lives.
Nearly the entire first hour is spent at the sprawling English estate that the Tallis family calls home, a grand and lustrous world marked by wealth and privilege. Briony Tallis (Saoirse Ronan) is a 13 year-old aspiring playwright who witnesses a pair of encounters between her smoldering older sister Cecilia (Keira Knightley) and the housekeeper’s charming son, Robbie Turner (James McAvoy).
Briony’s confused adolescent emotions and spurned overtures prompt her to make a horrible accusation against Robbie, one that we know to be untrue but there is enough circumstantial evidence to convict Robbie. His life ruined and his romance with Cecilia cut short, Robbie is offered a reprieve from prison if he enlists to fight in World War II. He does so, but longs for the day when he and Cecilia can be reunited.
Briony, meanwhile, has grown up (and is now played by Romola Garai) and realizes how horrible her actions were. Briony — who, like Cecilia, serves as a nurse for wounded soldiers back from the war — struggles to find the right way to atone for her past transgressions. Is it too late for Briony to set things right with Robbie and Cecilia? Or can these two lovers be reunited by the very person who tore them apart?

Release date: Friday November 16, 2007 Genre: Thriller Running time: 123 min. Director: Sidney Lumet Studio: THINKFilm Producer(s): Austin Chick, Michael Cerenzie Screenplay: Kelly Masterson Cast: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Albert Finney, Marisa Tomei, Rosemary Harris Rating: R for scene of strong graphic sexuality, nudity, violence, drug use and language
Synopsis: Master filmmaker Sidney Lumet directs this absorbing suspense thriller about a family facing the worst enemy of all – itself. Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman plays Andy, an overextended broker who lures his younger brother, Hank (Ethan Hawke) into a larcenous scheme: the pair will rob a suburban mom-and-pop jewelry store that appears to be the quintessential easy target. The problem is, the store owners are Andy and Hank’s actual mom and pop and, when the seemingly perfect crime goes awry, the damage lands right at their doorstep. Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei plays Hoffman’s trophy wife, who is having a clandestine affair with Hawke, and the stellar cast also includes Albert Finney as the family patriarch who pursues justice at all costs, completely unaware that the culprits he is hunting are his own sons. A classy, classic heist-gone-wrong drama in the tradition of “The Killing” and Lumet’s own “The Anderson Tapes,” “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead” is smart enough to know that we often have the most to fear from those who are near and dear.
