Wings is the first silent movie to win the Academy Award for Best Picture 1928, awarded in 1929 at the very first Academy Award ceremony. (the movie was released in theaters, 1927). The other movie is The Artist, which took home the Oscar for Best Picture at 84th Academy Awards. Wings also won the awards for: Best Effects, Engineering Effects (Roy Pomeroy). On January 24, 2012, coinciding with Paramount's centennial anniversary, the studio released the restored and remastered version of Wings on both DVD and Blu-ray formats. In celebration of Paramount's 100th anniversary, Paramount Pictures and Goldberg Brothers have partnered to create a line of Limited Production SeriesWings branded home theater products. These products are officially licensed and feature both the Wings and Paramount Pictures movie logo.
