Like its predecessor, The Godfather, The Godfather Part II is considered one of the most highly influential films in the gangster genre. Some critics even regard it as superior to the original film. The movie was nominated for eleven Academy Awards, in 1974, and won six Oscars for: Best Picture, Best Director (Francis Ford Coppola), Best Supporting Actor: Robert De Niro, Best Adapted Screenplay: (Francis Ford Coppola and Mario Puzo), Best Art Direction/Set Decoration, and Best Original Dramatic (Nino Rota and Carmine Coppola)). The movie achieved an amazing feat by winning twice the number of Oscars as its predecessor, The Godfather (which won three in 1972). At
