Background: The Order of the Dragon ring features a sigil that is a replica of the symbol (worn as a medallion) that Vlad Dracula (Vlad the Impaler and Vlad III) used to signify his membership in the Order. Sigismond (the King of Hungary) founded the Order in 1408, which is modeled after the "earlier Hungarian monarchical order, the Order of St. George founded by King Carol Robert of Anjou in 1318."  It was a chivalric Order whose purpose was to fight the enemies of Christianity primarily the Ottoman Turks. Vlad Dracula's father, Vlad II carried the surname Dracul after he was inducted into the Order in 1431, and at the age of five young Vlad was vested into the order at the same time.  Dracul means "The Dragon" and Dracula means "son of the dragon".

Ring description: The ring is sterling silver and the sigil measures approximately 15.9 mm (5/8 inches) long by 16.5 mm (just 3/8 inches) wide. The ring measures approximately 4.5 mm (3/16") wide at the back of the band. The ring weighs approximately 6.1 grams (weight varies with size).
