Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese will reteam for the ninth time:
After Robert De Niro reteams with his Heat and Godfather co-star Al Pacino for Righteous Kill, he will reunite with Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese for the ninth time for the crime pic Frankie Machine.
The long-gestating adaptation of Don Winslow’s novel The Winter of Frankie Machine will be produced by De Niro’s Tribeca shingle. DeadlineHollywoodDaily.com reports, “Scorsese is set to direct it for Paramount under his deal there.”
The site adds that the title has been shortened to just Frankie Machine, and that it is expected to be Scorsese’s next film following his Rolling Stones project.
Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Ocean’s Thirteen) penned the screenplay adaptation. Don Winslow’s official site had the following plot synopsis:
“Frank Machianno, aka Frankie Machine, retires from his life as a contract killer and begins a new life in San Diego. Far removed from any of the thrills of his mob life, he opens a bait shack on Ocean Beach Pier, runs three other legit businesses, and when nothing else demands his attention, puts his board in the water and rides the waves. Not a bad life for the 62-year-old Vietnam vet; at least most of the time it is quiet. Frankie’s life however returns to the tension, suspense and terror of the ‘old-days’ when the head of the Los Angeles syndicate calls in a marker, and asks him for backup during a meeting with members of the Detroit mob. The meeting is suppose to be an effort to resolve the current disputes between the two groups, but turns out to be a setup to end Frankie’s life.”

Fans of The Sopranos rejoice! Now you can purchase some of the original memorabilia from the popular television show:
It’s your chance to own a small piece of “The Sopranos.”
Memorabilia from the hit HBO series – which ended its six-season run with a controversial final episode last weekend – will be available at a warehouse sale in Queens today.
But don’t expect to buy the bathrobe that Tony wore to get the paper every morning or the bowling ball bag that once toted Ralphie’s head. A source close to the production said none of the show’s iconic items would be available.
Instead, there will be plenty of the furniture, rugs, lamps, antiques and books that decorated the various New Jersey sets in the acclaimed show.
The sale – which will also include similar items from other HBO shows – kicks off at 10 a.m. and will be held on a lot across from 21-36 44th Road in Long Island City. The sale runs until next Monday.

Robert Orci, told IGN.com that Star Trek is set to go into production this November. Read on:
Robert Orci, screenwriter of the upcoming live-action Transformers movie, told IGN that his next project Star Trek is scheduled to go into production in November.
“It shoots in November,” Orci said during an exclusive interview with IGN. “We’re in preproduction right now and just started. We’re casting and hoping to have somebody by Comicon — we’ll find out. The script is written, and [it comes out] Christmas ’08.”
Orci remained mum about the film’s plot, he said he is confident that Star Trek XI will satisfy nonfans and longtime Trek watchers alike.
“We’ve sworn an oath to not really divulge anything,” he said, “but if you’re a fan who’s been tracking a lot of questions about people’s histories and about the history of Starfleet, there’s various gaps in the canon that if you were to get online and sample what people would want to see, you’d see some overlap in terms of what any fan who knows Trek would see. But the flipside of it is we want to make sure that this movie is absolutely for nonfans as well. In a way it’s going to be two different movies — if you’re a fan, you’re going to see a different movie. If you’re a fan, you’re seeing the black stripes of the zebra, and if you’re not a fan you’re going to see the white stripes. That was actually an amazing challenge, to see if that was even possible, and I think, hope, pray that we did it.”
